Quality Preschool Education with community impact

Help Peru partners with Sembrando Juntos, a nonprofit organization committed to transforming early childhood education in vulnerable areas. Located in the heart of Pachacútec, Ventanilla, where most families face poverty, migration, and lack of basic services, the organization runs a Laboratory School that serves as a model for high-quality, inclusive education for children aged 3 to 5.

In this community, 24% of children are not enrolled in school, 90% of classrooms fail to stimulate creative or verbal development, and 50% of caregivers use physical punishment as a disciplinary tool.

Sembrando Juntos works to change this reality by promoting safe learning environments, emotional and cognitive development, and strong family involvement. With Help Peru’s support, the project strengthens the skills of teachers and educational assistants, while involving parents in their children's education. The school serves over 100 children annually, offering a curriculum that centers on competence-based learning and child-led discovery. But its impact goes beyond the classroom:

  • 450+ parents and community members benefit from workshops on healthy habits and family support.
  • 160 preschool teachers from other institutions participate in a teacher residency and exchange program.
  • 10 teachers and classroom assistants receive professional development to ensure high pedagogical standards.

Sembrando Juntos demonstrates that early education can be a powerful lever for social change. One that starts with the child, includes the family, and ripples out across the entire community.
