Help Peru 10th Anniversary Gala
Ten years ago, It was an idea that started from the heart…
A desire to give back to Peru by providing opportunities for those who had none, this idea became a reality when Help Peru was born. It has been an incredible journey made possible by the generous support of friends like you! Help Peru’s 2023 Gala celebrates our 10th anniversary on Thursday 5 October at the New York City Metropolitan Club.
More information will be released in the coming weeks – check your inboxes
Help Peru hosted a two-day participatory workshop on proposal planning.

The workshop covered topics: long-range planning & a program evolution model, sustainability, objectives, outputs/activities, outcomes/results (measurable change), work plans, budgets, project reporting, legal requirements within Peru, and Help Peru’s Terms & Conditions for project partners.
Site visit to MINGA in the Amazonas Region

Minga, one of our current partners, works with community leaders in order to implement development initiatives integrating education, micro-business for youth, health, and the environment. Youth leaders receive assistance to undertake planting an organic vegetable garden or developing a fish farm using small fish from the river. Income generated from these activities can be used to pay household expenses, school supplies, and be re-invested in the micro-business.
During COVID, Minga worked with the communities to install “Alto Parlantes” – speakers mounted on poles in a central area and connected to a tape player and microphone.  The youth leaders and collaborating professors recorded a series of tapes covering health issues, math, gardening, culture, science, etc. An unexpected result was that the “abuelas” (grandmothers) also listened to the broadcasts and began sharing traditional practices and knowledge with the students.
Minga also trains community promoters who hold workshops covering health (HIV, COVID, nutrition) domestic violence and abuse, local fauna and plants (including medicinal). Two of the younger women shared how they have grown and are respected and listened to in their communities for the work they are doing; one, now aged 20, started at 13 as a volunteer promoter.

Peru is turning 202 years old, it is a beautiful, resilient, inspiring country with a rich history. But there are little opportunities for vulnerable populations – help us change that, with your donation we can:
Build a Better Future!
