Sinfonia Por El Peru; Nucleo Huaraz

“Music is the art that helps me express my emotions and feelings, in ‘Sinfonía por el Perú’ I am learning to sing and to use various techniques to do it better, and also the disciplines my schedule and directs my concentration in all areas aspects” – Daniela Alva, 10 years old. Daniela is one of the 272 children from vulnerable Huaraz (Ancash Region) that Help Peru supports. They receive musical lessons at Sinfonía por el Perú School, where through the power of music, they develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills; children of the project gain higher self-esteem, develop a greater tenacity to achieve goals, increase their personal creativity, and are enriched through exposure to better ways of living together in the society. Likewise, their families are trained to generate safe spaces and recognition that strengthen their children’s learning and integral development.

Highlights of Help Peru Workshop
We hosted a workshop in Lima with our project partners and other representatives from key allies (Es Hoy, Sector3, Inter-American Foundation). Our one-day workshop had some key highlights and takeaways: Minga gave a presentation on diversifying resources and expanding sustainable income with the idea of Minga Tours. ANIA, D1, Minga, and Help Peru Executive Director Christopher Price held a panel on the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)  initiatives within our organizations. The project partners shared their past year’s best practices, lessons learned, and what could be improved by working with Help Peru.
