Socios en Salud (Partners in Health): Early Childhood Development project
Partners in Health is an international non-profit organization with the mission of offering health care from a social justice perspective. Help Peru began supporting Partners in Health in 2024 to implement the project “CASITA: Implementation of a community intervention to reduce the risk or delay in early childhood development in children under 2 years of age in a community in the district of Ventanilla.” This intervention, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness in the district of Carabayllo, provides a toolkit and accompanies mothers and caregivers of children from 6 to 24 months of age so that they can strengthen their children’s physical, language, and social skills through play and positive interactions.
In the Ventanilla district where the project is being developed, 70% of the children’s families abandon their anemia treatment and their recovery rate is below 25%. Additionally, only 44% have growth and development controls according to their age. The CASITA project is working to address these challenges through this community intervention that will benefit 220 families, train Community Health Agents, and implement an innovative outreach application called “Yo Promotor.”
